About the Band

About the Band

An outstanding five-piece covers rock band - comprising ex-professional recording artists from the 70s.

Some of us appear on albums released on original vinyl - yes, we really are that old!

We play the soundtrack of our youth - the best chart hits of the 20th Century.

~ ~ ~

We left the music business professionally decades ago. We no longer do this for the money, hence our modest fees; but we’ve always gigged, playing every type of venue over the years.

From town halls to village halls, from tiny music pubs to iconic rock venues, from rock clubs on the continent to big stage festivals during English summers.

We’ve done the miles to be exceptional players and we have great harmony vocals.

The truth is we put this band together for us!  For the joy getting back out on the road and performing the soundtrack of our youth; the best rock chart hits from the era of Peace & Love that everybody knows.

We love the music we play.  We love the roar of the crowd in music pubs.  We love seeing party audiences hit the dance floor, young and old, when they hear those iconic guitar intro’s . . .

. . .  Alright Now, Born to Be Wild, Honky Tonk Women, Light My Fire, Radar Love, Mustang Sally, Rebel Rebel, Sweet Home Alabama, Caroline, Hi Ho Silver Lining, Spirit in the Sky, Keep on Runnin’, Get it On, Drive My Car, Can’t Get Enough, etc.

OUR MUSICAL BIOGRAPHIES

Rob Taylor - Lead Vocal & Lead Guitar:

Originally from Salisbury Rob played lead guitar for ‘All in the Mind’ in the 70s. He’s also played with Gary Brooker from Procul Harum. Rob was Lead Singer and Lead Guitar in The Bullfrog Blues Band for 20 years and a veteran of three European tours. Rob is a naturally gifted musician with a highly melodic style in his solos.

Rob is a retired Art Lecturer and now a professional Artist living in London. Google 'Robert Dixon Taylor' to find his exhibitions in Chelsea galleries and his television appearances.  You can see some of his work in the Gallery page

Frank Dunsmuir - Lead Guitar & Vocals:

Frank played around Birmingham as a teenager before joining the MGBs who supported touring headliners such as The Pretenders, Cheap Trick and UB40. More recently he headlined at the Extonbury Festival and has toured France and Italy. Whether replicating Marc Bolan or Jimi Hendrix, Frank has a knack for not only playing ‘ALL the right notes in the right order’, but also of sounding exactly like original records. He naturally plays like Paul Kossoff.

Frank was Head of European Business Development for an international software company.  He now runs his own consultancy after having to work with Downing St for 5 years helping Boris sort out the mess called Brexit.

Noel Price - Bass Guitar & Vocals

In the 70s Noel started playing around the Birmingham circuit at 16 as a member of the legendary Spellbound (find their music online at The Birmingham Music Archive). Later he was in the Shoop Shoop Zoochie Boogie Band in Canterbury, and then with The Lizards in York, signed to Festival Records (vinyl copies of their album are still available in some VERY rare record shops!). Noel and Frank went to the same school in Birmingham 45 years ago, although the first time they actually met was in a London based function band in 2017.

Noel retired from a Head of Faculty post a couple of years ago and lives in the countryside in Hertfordshire.

Mark Lake - Drums:

Mark recently joined the band when the drum seat became available. Mark was raised in Austin Texas first playing drums in high school rock bands before becoming a sought after drummer across the Austin Rock circuit in his 20s. If you look at our live showreel video you’ll see just what a sensationally accurate drummer he is. He returned to London, the town of his birth, later on  and you may have caught him in The Flaming Pies in recent years.

Mark now drives a London bus.

Gail Newton - Harmony Vocal

Gail sang with various prog-rock bands in the early 70s and is the latest addition to the band.  Gail is a naturally talented singer who can find a harmony without even thinking about it.  She comes from a musical family - her cousin is Dave Stewart who you may remember had a few hits with his band The Eurythmics in the 80s.  However Gail’s greatest claim to fame is once making a cup of tea for Bob Dylan in Dave’s mum’s little house in Newcastle!

Gail used to own The Clapham Common Clinic.  She is now a semi retired working part time as an Acupuncturist, Chinese Herbal Dr and Chinese medicine teacher living in Kent.
